Syrian teams secure 6 medals at Arab Collegiate Programming Contest in Egypt

Cairo, Dec. 16 (SANA) Syrian teams won six outstanding medals at the 27th regional finals of the Arab and North Africa Collegiate Programming Contest (ACPC), held by the Arab Academy for Science, Technology, and Maritime Transport in Luxor, Egypt, from December 12 to 14.

The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research said in a statement that the medals were awarded as follows: a gold medal to a team from the Syrian Virtual University; a gold and a bronze medal to two teams from the University of Aleppo; a silver and a bronze medal to two teams from the University of Damascus; and a bronze medal to a team from the University of Homs.

The ministry hailed the achievement as a new scientific milestone for Syria’s record of international excellence.

The ministry added that 13 Syrian teams participated in this edition, out of 151 teams representing 80 Arab universities. Each team consists of three members and a coach. They work together on a single computer to solve a series of real-life problems programmatically. The winning teams in the regional contest will qualify for the World Finals of the International Collegiate Programming Contest.
