Qatar affirms Iranian attacks on its territory a flagrant violation of sovereignty

Doha 21 July (SANA) – The State of Qatar affirmed that the Iranian attacks on its territory constitute a flagrant violation of its national sovereignty, a direct infringement upon its security and territorial integrity, and an unacceptable escalation that threatens the security and stability of the region.

The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated its condemnation of the Iranian attacks on the country in two identical letters to the United Nations and the Security Council on Monday, deeming them a dangerous and unacceptable escalation that poses a direct threat to its security and territorial integrity, as well as to regional and international stability. The Ministry further stated that the attacks constitute a flagrant violation of the principles and provisions of international law, the1949 Geneva Conventions, and their additional protocols.

The two letters affirmed that those attacks constitute a violation of Security Council Resolution 2817 (2026), which condemned in the strongest terms the heinous attacks launched by Iran against Qatar and other countries in the region, and demanded an immediate cessation of all attacks.

The letters held Iran fully responsible for these attacks and their resulting damages and repercussions, making it obligated to compensate Qatar for all damages incurred as a result of these actions.

The Gulf Cooperation Council countries, including Qatar, as well as Jordan, are subjected to repeated Iranian missile and drone attacks on their territories, against the backdrop of the resumption of tit-for-tat strikes between the United States and Iran.
