Amman/Manama, July 21 (SANA) Jordan and Bahrain said Tuesday their armed forces had intercepted Iranian drones and missiles targeting their territories, with both countries reporting no casualties or material damage as they maintained heightened military readiness.
Jordan neutralizes five Iranian drones
Jordan’s Armed Forces said they neutralized five drones launched from Iran overnight and early Tuesday.
A military source said the operation was carried out efficiently and in line with operational requirements and established defensive procedures, adding that no casualties or material damage were reported.
The source said the armed forces continue to monitor the kingdom’s airspace and remain fully prepared to respond to any aerial threat in accordance with the military’s rules of engagement. Military officials said the interceptions caused no casualties or property damage, while Royal Engineering Corps teams secured the areas where missile debris landed. Jordan had previously intercepted three of four Iranian missiles fired toward the kingdom on Sunday, with the fourth falling in an uninhabited area.
Jordan’s Foreign Ministry also summoned Iran’s charge d’affaires in Amman to deliver a formal protest over what it described as repeated Iranian attacks on the kingdom and statements issued by Iranian officials.
Bahrain destroys aerial threats
The Bahrain Defense Force said its air defense systems destroyed a number of Iranian aerial threats on Tuesday and confirmed that the country’s armed forces remain on the highest level of operational readiness.
The military urged citizens and residents to stay away from suspicious objects or remnants of the attacks and report them immediately, adding that engineering teams are prepared to deal safely with unexploded debris. Bahrain also said attacks targeting civilians and private property with missiles and drones constitute a violation of international humanitarian law.
On Monday, Bahrain’s Civil Aviation Affairs said Iranian drones had targeted civil air navigation systems within the Bahrain Flight Information Region, but stressed that flight operations and air traffic were not affected.
