“Syria has taken historic steps toward peace and prosperity, working with the United States to implement President Trump’s regional agenda and countering terrorism,” Wilson said, calling for the removal of Syria’s name from the State Sponsors of Terrorism (SST) list.

Wilson noted that Secretary of State Marco Rubio has indicated in his assessment that Syria meets and exceeds all requirements in this regard.

The congressman stressed the need to lift this designation from Syria, expressing his hope to engage with the State Department to lower the travel advisory level to reflect the current reality and allow for stable investment flows and a revitalized tourism sector.

On June 1, Wilson said US-Syrian relations are developing in a positive direction and that Syria’s outdated designation as a state sponsor of terrorism should be removed quickly to promote stability and prosperity.
