Geneva, March 31 (SANA) The United Nations Human Rights Council adopted two resolutions renewing its condemnation of Israeli occupation violations against residents of the occupied Syrian Golan, calling for an end to these practices, compliance with relevant UN resolutions, and a halt to repressive measures.
In a statement posted on X on Tuesday, the Council announced that during its sixty-first session it adopted draft resolution (L.8) on the human rights situation in the occupied Syrian Golan, affirming the illegality of all annexation measures imposed by the occupying authorities and stressing the need to protect the civil rights of its residents.
The Council also adopted draft resolution (L.36) on Israeli settlements in the occupied Syrian Golan and the occupied Palestinian territories, including East Jerusalem, reaffirming that settlement activities are illegal and constitute a clear violation of international law.
In the same context, the Council approved draft resolution (L.37) on the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination, as part of supporting their legitimate rights in line with international resolutions.
The Human Rights Council confirmed that the adoption of these draft resolutions grants them official status as decisions issued by the Council, reiterating its rejection of the violations committed against residents of the occupied Syrian Golan.
last Friday, Syria welcomed the Council’s adoption of a resolution concerning it, for the second consecutive year by consensus, expressing appreciation for the constructive approach and cooperation shown by the core group of sponsoring countries in drafting it.
