Damascus, Feb. 28 (SANA) Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Hassan al‑Shaibani held a series of telephone calls on Saturday with regional and international officials to discuss the sharp escalation between Iran and Israel and its impact on Middle East stability.
Al‑Shaibani spoke with the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Turkey, Bahrain, Kuwait and Jordan, as well as with British National Security Adviser Jonathan Powell and Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani, the Foreign Ministry said.
The conversations focused on the latest developments following the exchange of missile strikes between Iran and Israel and the repercussions for countries affected by the escalation. The ministry said the officials also discussed ways to strengthen coordination to contain the crisis and support regional stability.
According to the statement, al‑Shaibani reaffirmed Syria’s support for the Arab states targeted in the Iranian strikes and condemned what he described as violations of their sovereignty. He called for intensified diplomatic efforts to prevent further deterioration.
Earlier on Saturday, the ministry condemned the Iranian attacks on Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait and Jordan, which followed a joint U.S.–Israeli strike on Iranian territory.
