Damascus, Jan. 30 (SANA) The Syrian government announced on Friday that it has reached a comprehensive agreement with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), including a ceasefire and a phased SDF military and administrative integration.
A government source told the Syrian News Channel Al-Ikhbaria that the agreement includes the withdrawal of military forces from contact points and the entry of the Ministry of Interior’s security forces into the city centers of Hasakah and Qamishli to enhance stability and begin the integration of security forces in the region.
The deal also provides for the formation of a military division comprising three SDF brigades, in addition to a brigade from the Kobani (Ain al-Arab) forces under a division affiliated with Aleppo province, he said.
The source clarified that the military and security integration of the SDF will be on an individual basis within the brigades, with the state assuming full control over all civil and government institutions, as well as border crossings and entry points, ensuring that no part of the country remains outside its authority.
He said that the deal also provides for the integration of the Autonomous Administration institutions into Syrian state institutions while retaining civilian employees. It includes arrangements for civil and educational rights for the Kurdish community and guarantees the return of displaced persons to their areas.
According to the source, the agreement aims to unify Syrian territory, enforce the rule of law, and achieve full integration in the region through enhanced cooperation among the relevant parties and coordinated efforts to rebuild the country.
On January 20, the Syrian Ministry of Defense announced a four-day ceasefire following an agreement with the SDF, later extended on January 24 for 15 days.
On January 18, President Ahmad al-Sharaa signed a deal for a ceasefire and full integration of the SDF into state institutions, receiving broad Arab and international support. Earlier, on January 16, President al-Sharaa issued Decree No. 13, affirming that Syrian Kurds are an essential part of the Syrian people and that their cultural and linguistic identity is part of Syria’s unified national identity.
