Canada welcomes positive steps by Syrian Government affirming Support for Syrian People

Canada welcomes positive steps by Syrian Government affirming Support for Syrian People

Ottawa. Dec.6 (SANA) Canada welcomed the positive steps taken by the Syrian government toward a peaceful transition, affirming its support for the Syrian people in their pursuit of an inclusive and stable future.

“Canada welcomes the positive steps taken by the Syrian government since the fall of the Assad regime towards a peaceful Syrian-led political transition” Canadian Foreign Minister, Anita Anand, said in a post on X.

“Canada stands steadfast with the people of Syria in their quest for an inclusive, stable and prosperous future” Minister Anand added.

For his part, Gregory Galligan, Canadian ambassador to Lebanon and Syria, stated in a post on X that the Canadian government’s decision to remove Syria from the list of “Foreign State Supporters of Terrorism” reflects the progress achieved by the Syrian government.

He added that “Canada stands with Syrians in their pursuit of an inclusive, stable and prosperous future”

On Friday, the Canadian government announced lifting sanctions on Syria and the removal of its name from the list of state sponsors of terrorism, following efforts by the Syrian government to enhance stability in Syria.
