Washington, Jan. 22 (SANA) U.S. Special Envoy to Syria, Tom Barrack, reiterated Washington’s support for and commitment to advancing the integration process outlined in the January 18 agreement between the Syrian government and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

Speaking on the X platform following his meeting with SDF Commander Mazloum Abdi on Thursday, Barrack stated: “All parties agreed that the essential first step is full adherence to the current ceasefire, while we work together to identify and implement confidence-building measures that will strengthen trust and ensure lasting stability.”

On Sunday, January 18, President Ahmad al-Sharaa signed the ceasefire agreement and the accord on the full integration of the Syrian Democratic Forces into state institutions. The move was widely welcomed by Arab and international communities.

Earlier, on January 16, President al-Sharaa issued Decree No. (13), affirming that Syrian Kurdish citizens are an essential and inseparable part of the Syrian people, and that their cultural and linguistic identity forms a vital component of Syria’s unified and diverse national identity.
