Riyadh, Jan. 19 (SANA) The Gulf Cooperation Council on Monday welcomed the ceasefire agreement and the full integration of the SDF into Syrian state institutions, saying the move will help enhance Syria’s stability and preserve its unity and territorial integrity.
GCC Secretary-General Jassim al-Budaiwi stressed the council’s firm position in supporting Syria, saying that Syria’s security and stability are a fundamental pillar of regional security, according to a statement.
He expressed hope for Syria and its people for lasting security and stability, as well as further progress and prosperity.
The agreement, which was signed on Sunday by President Ahmad al-Sharaa, has drawn wide welcome at the Arab and international levels and was described as a pivotal step in strengthening Syria’s unity and stability and extending state sovereignty over the country’s entire territory.
