Damascus, Jan.10 (SANA) Syria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Ibrahim Olabi, accompanied by UN Under-Secretary-General for Peace Operations Jean-Pierre Lacroix, conducted a field visit to southern Syria on Saturday to examine the situation on the ground.
During the visit, Olabi and Lacroix held a series of meetings with officials of Quneitra Governorate, local community leaders, and a number of civilians affected by Israeli violations. They also reviewed the field and humanitarian conditions in the area.
The tour included visits to several military positions belonging to the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF) within the buffer zone.
The visit comes as part of ongoing efforts to track repeated Israeli violations of Syrian territory, ensure respect for the Disengagement Agreement, and reinforce the security and safety of civilians.
