Cairo, Jan. 4 (SANA) The Arab Parliament on Sunday welcomed an initiative by Rashad Mohammed al-Alimi, President of Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council, to convene a comprehensive conference in Saudi Arabia aimed at addressing the crisis in southern Yemen, emphasizing the importance of wisdom and dialogue.
In a statement published on its official website, the parliament reaffirmed its support for security and stability in Yemen and urged Yemenis to participate in the conference and engage in dialogue to reach sustainable political solutions that serve the country’s national interests.
A Yemeni presidency source said on Saturday that al-Alimi had formally requested Saudi Arabia host the talks, a proposal that Riyadh accepted. The initiative has received support from several Arab states, as well as the Arab League and the Muslim World League.
Saudi Arabia ’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs also welcomed the call for inclusive dialogue in Riyadh, describing it as an important step toward advancing negotiations and praised Saudi Arabia’s role in sponsoring the process.
