Russia’s Vershinin congratulates Syria on Liberation Day, pledges continued support

MOSCOW, Dec.9 (SANA) Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin congratulated the Syrian people on the first anniversary of Liberation Day, saying Moscow stands ready to help Damascus overcome the challenges ahead, according to remarks broadcast by RT on Tuesday.

Vershinin described the occasion as “a highly significant milestone in Syria’s modern history,” highlighting what he called meaningful developments in Syria’s international relations, especially with Russia.

He noted that President Ahmad al-Sharaa’s visit to Moscow on Oct. 15 “opened a new chapter” in bilateral ties, which he said are built on deep and longstanding connections between the two nations.

Vershinin added that cooperation continues across political, financial, cultural, military and energy fields, stressing Russia’s commitment to Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
