Damascus, Dec. 5 (SANA) Syria welcomed Friday the Canadian government’s decision to lift sanctions imposed on the country, describing the move as a positive development that reflects growing recognition of the negative humanitarian and economic impact of such measures on the Syrian people and vital sectors of the economy.
The Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said in a statement that the decision marks an important milestone for strengthening Syrian–Canadian relations and opens the door to a new phase of multi-level cooperation and partnership between the two countries.
The ministry added that Syria remains ready to work constructively with all international partners and to engage positively in efforts that support economic recovery and reconstruction, noting that such cooperation would contribute to regional and international security and stability.
The statement emphasized that lifting sanctions will help create more favorable conditions for development, humanitarian relief, and long-term stabilization across the country.
