Damascus, Dec. 4 (SANA) A delegation representing UN Security Council member states arrived in Syria on Thursday and is expected to meet with Syrian officials and civil society groups.
Shortly after arriving in Damascus, the delegation toured Jobar neighborhood, surveying the widespread destruction caused by bombardment under the former regime.
Later in the day, the delegation visited several historical sites in Old Damascus, including Beit al-Wali Hotel in Bab Touma and the Umayyad Mosque.
The delegation was accompanied by Syria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ibrahim Olabi, and Najat Rochdi, the Deputy UN Special Envoy for Syria.
The visit highlights the international community’s backing of the country during its reconstruction phase and its commitment to Syria’s sovereignty and stability.
