Damascus, Dec. 3 (SANA) Security units in Damascus Countryside, in coordination with the General Intelligence Directorate, carried out an operation targeting an ISIS hideout in Kanaker, the Interior Ministry said Wednesday.
Brig. Gen. Ahmad al-Dalati, Internal Security Commander in Damascus Countryside, said in a statement on the Ministry’s Telegram channel that the operation was based on reliable intelligence and weeks of monitoring terrorist movements.
He added that units took full control of the site after a brief engagement. The operation resulted in the arrest of three individuals linked to ISIS cells and the seizure of improvised explosive devices, silencers, various weapons, and large quantities of ammunition. Documents and other evidence of their involvement in terrorist activities were also seized and are being analyzed as part of the ongoing investigation.
Al-Dalati noted that the operation reaffirms the Interior Ministry’s commitment to safeguarding national security and protecting citizens, reflecting continued efforts to combat terrorism and extremism in all its forms.
Security units in Idleb Province conducted two targeted operations on December 1 against ISIS-linked cells in the province’s countryside.
