Erdogan: Syria, led by al-Sharaa, made significant progress to peace and development

Ankara – SANA

Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, affirmed that Syria, under the leadership of President Ahmad Al-Sharaa, has made notable progress toward lasting peace, calm and economic development in recent months.

“We are confident that this process will accelerate further with the lifting of sanctions,” President Erdogan added during a press conference with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz in Ankara on Thursday.

Erdogan emphasized that the prosperity and well-being of the Syrian people, while preserving the unity and integrity of Syrian territory, is a top priority for Turkey.

He noted that Germany places importance on working with Turkey to coordinate efforts regarding the situation in Syria.

Regarding the situation in Gaza, President Erdogan called for an end to the genocide and ongoing starvation that Israel uses as a weapon against Palestinians in the region.
