Washington, Oct. 02 (SANA) Google has added hundreds of free textbooks and educational references to its NotebookLM platform, allowing school and university students to access a broad range of academic resources and use artificial intelligence tools to understand material, organize their studies and prepare for exams.
According to an announcement published on Google’s official blog on Oct. 29, the update gives students access to textbooks and references from educational institutions and publishers, including OpenStax, Open Textbook Library and S Chand Publishing, without requiring them to purchase the books or download separate copies.
The feature allows users to ask questions about books added to their notebooks and receive answers supported by citations to the original sources, enabling them to verify information and locate relevant passages in the references.
NotebookLM can also generate customized study guides, practice quizzes and flashcards based on textbook content, offering students additional ways to review lessons, reinforce their knowledge and prepare for exams.
To access the books, students can open a notebook in NotebookLM, select the textbook section from the source-adding options, browse the available titles and add the books they need.
The update is part of broader efforts to expand the use of artificial intelligence in education by combining academic resources with interactive tools that help students organize their learning and review course materials.
