Manilla, May 4 (SANA) A magnitude 6 earthquake struck the island of Samar in the central Philippines on Monday, with no immediate reports of casualties.
The German Research Centre for Geosciences said the quake occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers, according to Reuters.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said aftershocks were expected following the tremor.
The Philippines lies along the Pacific “Ring of Fire,” a seismically active zone where earthquakes and volcanic activity are frequent.
