Bualoi death toll rises to 51 in Vietnam

The death toll from Typhoon Bualoi in Vietnam has risen to 51 fatalities and 164 injuries, according to a new update released, Friday, by Vietnamese authorities. The material damage is estimated at $603 million.

A previous report on the typhoon, which was accompanied by widespread flooding and published two days ago, had indicated 19 deaths.

In a statement carried by local media, the Vietnamese Disaster Management Agency explained that the typhoon caused severe damage to roads, schools, and businesses. It also disrupted the power grid, resulting in electricity outages for tens of thousands of households.
