Abu Dhabi, Sept. 14 (SANA) UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Jordan’s King Abdullah II discussed regional developments on Sunday and reaffirmed support for efforts to consolidate security and lasting stability in the region.
King Abdullah II was welcomed upon his arrival in Abu Dhabi by Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, with a number of senior UAE officials attending the reception, including Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and other officials.
The Jordanian king was accompanied by a high-level delegation that included Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II, Prime Minister Jafar Hassan and a number of senior officials.
The Emirates News Agency (WAM) reported that the two leaders reviewed a number of regional issues of common interest during their meeting in Abu Dhabi, particularly developments in the Middle East, and exchanged views on them.
They stressed their commitment to continuing fraternal consultation and coordination on various issues in a way that supports efforts to reinforce security and stability in the region.
The two leaders also affirmed their shared commitment to strengthening UAE-Jordan relations and expanding cooperation in economic, trade, development and other fields within the framework of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement between the two countries.
The visit reflects the close diplomatic, economic and cultural ties between the UAE and Jordan, with the two countries continuing coordination on regional developments and issues of common concern.
The meeting followed talks last Thursday between UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed and German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, during which the two leaders stressed the importance of achieving comprehensive and lasting peace in the region to enhance regional security and stability.
