Occupied Jerusalem, Aug. 25 (SANA) Israeli forces stormed Qalandia refugee camp and Kafr Aqab, north of occupied Jerusalem, on Tuesday and began evacuating and demolishing an UNRWA complex amid a heavy military deployment.

According to the Palestinian news agency WAFA, Israeli forces raided homes and facilities, conducted field interrogations and detained nearly 40 employees and other individuals at the Qalandia Training Center.

Far-right Israeli minister Itamar Ben-Gvir participated in the raid and announced the start of the evacuation, claiming that UNRWA had no place in Jerusalem.

Israeli forces evacuated the UNRWA Qalandia Vocational Training Center complex and began demolition procedures. They also distributed demolition notices to nearby properties.

The targeted complex includes educational, vocational and healthcare facilities. UNRWA had previously warned of an Israeli plan targeting the site, saying its implementation would destroy most of the facilities.

Following the raid, the Palestinian Presidency called on the UN Security Council to convene urgently to halt Israeli attacks on UN headquarters and institutions in Jerusalem and Qalandia, warning of violations of international law.
