Ankara, Aug. 20 (SANA) Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said Türkiye will continue providing humanitarian assistance worldwide, particularly to people in the Gaza Strip.
Marking World Humanitarian Day, Erdoğan said Türkiye continues to set an example in humanitarian action based on its history and civilizational values, according to Anadolu Agency.
“Empowered by our history and the values of our ancient civilization, we continue to set a global standard on this issue, which rises above politics, and to maintain our status as the country delivering the highest volume of humanitarian assistance worldwide in proportion to our national income,” Erdoğan said on the Turkish social media platform NSosyal.
He said more than 300 million people lack basic necessities and struggle to survive under difficult conditions, calling on the international community to assume its responsibilities.
“Assisting the oppressed, orphans, the vulnerable and the needy, as well as standing by those who are entirely alone, is a fundamental directive of our faith,” Erdoğan said.
He added that Türkiye would continue assisting people in need worldwide, particularly in Gaza, and stand alongside vulnerable and affected populations.
World Humanitarian Day is observed annually on Aug. 19 to recognize humanitarian workers and their efforts to save lives and support people affected by crises and disasters.
