Riyadh, Aug. 12 (SANA) Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan and his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan discussed regional developments and diplomatic efforts to ease tensions during a phone call on Tuesday, as concerns persist over security in key Middle East waterways.
The two ministers discussed efforts to de-escalate tensions and ensure the security of shipping routes in the Arabian Gulf and Red Sea, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
They also stressed the importance of safeguarding freedom of navigation and maintaining regional security and stability.
The talks covered prospects for expanding cooperation between Saudi Arabia and Türkiye, SPA said, without providing further details.
The call comes amid intensified regional and international diplomatic efforts to contain tensions in the Middle East and protect maritime traffic through vital waterways.
Regional and international consultations have increasingly focused on preventing further escalation, securing commercial shipping and supporting diplomatic efforts to maintain regional stability against the backdrop of the U.S.-Iran war.
