Cairo, July 1 (SANA) Arab Parliament Speaker Mohammed bin Ahmed al-Yamahi reaffirmed the parliament’s support for Syria’s sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity on Tuesday, while condemning repeated Israeli incursions into Syrian territory.
Speaking at the closing session of the Arab Parliament’s second sitting of its fourth legislative term in Cairo, al-Yamahi said the parliament supports efforts to rebuild the Syrian state and strengthen its security and stability.
He said repeated Israeli aggressions and incursions into Syrian territory violate Syria’s sovereignty, the U.N. Charter, the 1974 Disengagement Agreement and international law.
Addressing the Palestinian issue, al-Yamahi said it remains the Arab world’s central cause and rejected attempts to undermine the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, including the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.
He also condemned continued Israeli attacks on Lebanon and called for respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Arab states, including Yemen, Libya, Sudan and Somalia.
Al-Yamahi said any future agreement between the United States and Iran should fully address the legitimate security concerns of Arab states, particularly the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, to help ensure its success and durability.
He said joint Arab action remains the most effective framework for addressing regional challenges and emphasized the importance of parliamentary diplomacy in strengthening Arab coordination.
