He indicated that an investigation has been opened with the patrol members to determine the circumstances of the incident, given the deaths that occurred during the chase.

“The security operations room received a report on the 12th of this month, stating that a group of outlaws, driving a silver Hyundai Santa Fe, was robbing a motorcycle on the Blue Beach Road in the city of Lattakia.” In a statement published by the Ministry of Interior’s Telegram channel, Brigadier General al-Ahmad said.

Brigadier al-Ahmad added, “The operations room immediately responded to the report and dispatched an official security patrol in a pickup truck bearing the ministry’s logo. The patrol members were wearing the official uniform of the Internal Security Command.,upon arriving at the scene, the suspect vehicle was spotted. The driver activated the official (officer) lights and sound signals, but the vehicle refused to comply with orders to stop and fled.”

He continued, “Therefore, the security patrol began pursuing the suspect vehicle. Due to its continued refusal to stop, it was dealt with directly by firing gunfire to force it to stop. This resulted in the vehicle stopping and the escape of two armed individuals.”

Brigadier al-Ahmad said, “Upon searching the vehicle, four women were found inside. One of them died instantly, while another later succumbed to her injuries. Due to the deaths that occurred during the pursuit, the members of the patrol involved were detained and referred for investigation by the competent authorities to determine the circumstances of the incident and hold accountable anyone found to have violated the law.”
