Defense Ministry denies link to "National Guard" recruitment document circulating in Sweida

Damascus, SANA- The Syrian Ministry of Defense has denied any connection to a purported “National Guard Recruitment Request” document that has been circulating in Sweida, claiming coordination with the ministry.

Ali al-Rifai, Director of Public Relations at the Ministry of Information, stated that after several residents of Sweida shared the document suggesting affiliation with the Defense Ministry, officials contacted the ministry, which categorically denied any association with its content or with any entity promoting it. The ministry further affirmed that it has no involvement with the claims made in the document.

Al-Rifai emphasized the importance of verifying sources and avoiding misinformation, urging citizens to rely solely on official entities for accurate information.

The document, of unknown origin, has been circulating on social media pages in Sweida, falsely claiming that recruitment into the so-called “National Guard” is being coordinated with the Ministry of Defense.
