Preparatory Committee for the National Dialogue Conference: Syria witnesses a historic opportunity to shape its future

Damascus, SANA-The Preparatory Committee for the National Dialogue Conference announced that Syria is in front of a historic opportunity to shape the future, through a responsible national dialogue that enhances the unity of Syrian men and women, and establishes a new phase of understanding, consensus, and construction.

“The conference aims to discuss social, political, economic and governance issues, laying solid foundations for a future based on national consensus, justice, reform and comprehensive representation,” Huda Atasi, member of the committee said in the first statement during a press conference held at the Information Ministry building on Thursday.

The statement added that the conference represents the first real gathering of Syrian men and women since seventy-five years, with the aim of consolidating the dialogue approach, discussing major national issues, and finding appropriate solutions.

It pointed out the keenness to engage all spectrum of the Syrian people from various provinces and to ensure real participation that reflects societal and political diversity.

The statement considered that the dialogue actually began from the moment of liberation, as the various Syrian provinces witnessed a broad societal movement, represented in hundreds of dialogue seminars and specialized meetings.
