Aga Khan Development Network expands projects across Hama governorate

As part of the “In Devotion to Hama” campaign, the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) pledged to expand its projects across various areas of Hama Governorate, allocating millions of dollars in additional support to strengthen programs in health, water, education, solar energy, agricultural production, microfinance, and cultural heritage preservation.

The network said in a statement Saturday that its initiatives cover the city of Hama and surrounding areas, as well as the towns of Salamiyah, Masyaf, Al-Suqaylabiyah, Muhardah, and neighboring villages. The statement emphasized AKDN’s commitment to supporting the Syrian people in restoring basic services, rebuilding the country, and enhancing resilience under difficult conditions, contributing to long-term development and prosperity.

His Highness Prince Rahim Aga Khan V pledged at the Brussels Conference on Supporting Syria in March to provide at least 100 million Euros to support the Syrian people over two years.

The Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) is a network of private, non-denominational development agencies, with the primary focus of improving the quality of life in different regions of Asia and Africa.

The network focuses on health, education, culture, rural development, institution building, and economic development. AKDN’s mission includes improving living conditions and opportunities for the poor without regard to faith, origin, or gender. While the agencies are secular, they follow Islamic values.
