The Syrian Development Fund held discussions with representatives of the United Nations Resident Coordinator’s Office in Syria on coordinating efforts across shared development sectors.
Talks also covered cooperation with microfinance institutions to organize mechanisms for issuing benevolent loans, as well as supporting vocational and technical schools to empower target groups and strengthen their skills.
According to a statement posted by the Fund on its official Facebook page, the meeting — attended by Kazumi Kawamoto, head of the UN Resident Coordinator’s Office team — comes as part of joint efforts to promote sustainable local development in Syria.
The two sides agreed to hold a follow-up meeting soon to discuss implementing joint projects, reflecting their commitment to expanding partnership and translating development plans into tangible improvements in Syrians’ lives.
In July, President Ahmad Al-Sharaa issued Decree No. 112 of 2025 establishing an economic-oriented public institution in Syria known as the Development Fund. The institution, which enjoys legal personality and financial and administrative independence, is headquartered in Damascus and reports directly to the Presidency.
