Syrian customs and security officials at the Jdeidet Yabous border crossing intercepted an attempted smuggling of 40 bundles of cannabis coming from Lebanon, the General Authority for Land and Sea Border Crossings said Saturday.
The seizure followed a thorough inspection of a vehicle entering the crossing that had raised suspicion, the Authority said in statement on its Telegram channel.
The operation is part of ongoing efforts by the General Authority for Land and Sea Border Crossings, in coordination with the Interior Ministry’s Anti-Narcotics Department, to prevent illegal drugs from entering Syria and protect public health, the statement added.
