The Syrian Defense Ministry said Monday that the army’s recent movements in northern and northeastern Syria are part of a planned redeployment, not the start of new military operations.
In a written statement sent to SANA, the ministry said the repositioning follows repeated attacks by the “Syrian Democratic Forces” (SDF) on civilians and army units, as well as attempts by the SDF to seize new villages and military points.
The ministry stressed that the Syrian government remains committed to the March 10 Agreement and has no plans to launch offensive actions, adding that the army’s current mission is to protect civilians and security forces from continued SDF assaults.
