Lattakia, SANA – The General Authority for Land and Sea Ports announced a temporary suspension of passenger traffic through the Kassab border crossing on Saturday and Sunday, due to maintenance work within the crossing’s grounds.
“This measure aims to improve infrastructure and facilitate future transit, urging travelers to take this suspension into account when scheduling travel,” the Authority illustrated in a post on its Telegram channel on Tuesday.
Traffic will resume normally at the crossing starting Monday morning, September 15.
The Kassab border crossing is one of the vital official crossings connecting Syria and Turkey, via the Syrian town of Kassab and the Turkish town of Yayladağı. The crossing reopened in late December 2024, following the liberation of Syria and the fall of the former regime, resuming operations after years of closure.
