Transitional Justice Commission : Uncovering the truth, redressing harm are priorities

Damascus, SANA- The head of the National Commission for Transitional Justice, Abdul Basit Abdul Latif, emphasized that the Commission’s tasks focus on uncovering the truth about grave violations, ensuring accountability and providing redress and compensation to the victims.

Abdul Latif told SANA that the Commission also focuses in its work on promoting national reconciliation and civil peace, and advancing the reform of state institutions.

He also explained that the commission is making “serious efforts to implement these tasks, noting that victims and their families will have a pivotal role” in the transitional justice process as the Commission is fully committed to serving their goals and achieving their aspirations.

The National Commission for Transitional Justice was established pursuant to Republican Decree No. (20) issued on May 17, 2025.
