Damascus, June 4 (SANA) The Syrian Investment Authority and the International Finance Corporation (IFC) discussed opportunities for cooperation in energy, infrastructure and public-private partnership projects during talks held in Damascus on Wednesday.

Talal al-Hilali, director general of the Syrian Investment Authority, met with an IFC delegation to review priority investment projects and explore potential technical and financial support for initiatives aimed at supporting economic development and improving Syria’s investment environment.

The discussions focused on projects with economic and developmental impact, particularly in sectors considered critical to infrastructure rehabilitation and long-term growth.

Both sides also reviewed ways to enhance cooperation in areas that could help improve the competitiveness of the investment climate and support sustainable development efforts.

The International Finance Corporation, a member of the World Bank Group, is the world’s largest development institution focused on supporting private-sector growth in developing countries. Based in Washington, the IFC provides financing and advisory services for projects that meet economic, environmental and social sustainability standards.
