Muslim World League: EU decision to lift sanctions on Syria offers hope to its people

Riyadh, SANA-The Muslim World League has welcomed the European Union’s decision to lift all economic sanctions imposed on the Syrian Arab Republic.

In a statement published on the official website of the League’s General Secretariat, Secretary-General, President Organization of Muslim Scholars, Mohammad bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, praised this significant step taken by the EU to support Syria’s rightful progress towards its new future and promising path, which represents a beacon of hope for the Syrian people and their great aspirations.

Al-Issa also acknowledged all international efforts made in this regard, particularly the diligent and noble initiatives undertaken by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in support of the Syrian people. These efforts culminated in a response from U.S. President Donald Trump, who made a “historic” announcement from Riyadh, lifting all American sanctions on Syria. The EU’s decision follows this pivotal and influential move by the United States.
