Damascus, Feb. 11 (SANA) Syrian officials met a World Bank delegation in Damascus on Wednesday to discuss a potential strategic partnership and financing for priority reconstruction projects, according to the Foreign Ministry.

The opening session of joint technical workshops was hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates and attended by senior officials, including Finance Minister Mohammed Yisr Barnieh, Central Bank Gov. Abdulkader Husrieh, Qutaiba Kadish, director of the International Cooperation Department at Syria’s Foreign Ministry, and other government representatives.

Participants reviewed potential World Bank financing for projects in key sectors under Syria’s national recovery plan, the ministry said. The discussions focused on identifying priority areas for support and translating cooperation into development projects aimed at restoring services and strengthening state institutions.

The meetings are part of Syria’s efforts to secure international funding for reconstruction after years of war that severely damaged infrastructure and public services. The talks follow previous discussions in Damascus and the United States between Syrian authorities and World Bank officials on potential financial assistance, technical expertise, and advisory support for recovery efforts.
