Deir Ezzor, Jan.18 (SANA) Deir Ezzor Governorate announced on Sunday the closure of all public institutions and official departments across the province in eastern Syria, as a precautionary step to ensure the safety of residents.
In a statement, the governorate said: “All public institutions and official departments will be closed today, Sunday, Jan. 18, 2026. We urge our people to stay at home and not go out except for extreme necessity,” stressing that the measure comes out of concern for the safety of citizens.
Meanwhile, Deir Ezzor Governor Ghassan al-Sayyed Ahmad called on all citizens in the al-Jazira area to safeguard public property, including hospitals, schools and service facilities.
“These facilities are the foundation for building a better future for our children,” the governor said.
He stressed that “any destruction of these properties is an attack on the rights of all of us,” urging citizens to cooperate with local authorities and specialized teams and to adhere to instructions in order to help stabilize the region.
The governor added: “Protecting public property is a collective responsibility, and together we build a stronger and better homeland.”
