38 killed, 63 injured in rain-related accidents across Pakistan

Islamabad, SANA-The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has announced that 38 people were killed and 63 others injured in separate rain-related accidents across Pakistan since the onset of monsoon season in the country last Thursday.

The authority said in a statement that the heavy rains also destroyed 78 homes and killed 30 heads of livestock. The northwestern province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was the hardest hit, with 19 people killed and 41 others injured, followed by Punjab in the east, with 12 deaths and six injuries.”

Most of the deaths occurred due to roof collapses and flash floods that the National Emergency Operations Center of the NDMA has issued multiple impact-based weather alerts in view of ongoing and forecast rain wind/thunderstorms, as well as the risk of glacial lake outburst floods, and flash floods across various regions of the country on Sunday and Monday.
