Ankara, Sept. 9 (SANA) Türkiye welcomed on Wednesday a decision by 12 countries to impose restrictions on commercial and economic activities with Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank.
Head of Türkiye’s Presidential Communications Directorate Burhanettin Duran said the decision carries great importance, calling on the international community to strengthen its resolve and increase measures to confront Israel’s illegal policies.
In a post on the Turkish social media platform “NSosyal,” Duran said practices that disregard international law in the Palestinian territories should not go without consequences, amid the continuing destruction and humanitarian tragedy in the Gaza Strip.
Duran stressed that Türkiye will continue to defend the just cause of the Palestinian people and make every possible effort to establish justice and peace in the region.
On Tuesday, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Iceland, Ireland, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom announced their intention to impose national restrictions and support European restrictions on trade in goods produced in Israeli settlements established on occupied Palestinian territories, considering them illegal under international law.
