Amman, July 27 (SANA) Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi and U.N. Secretary-General António Guterres discussed developments in Syria and broader regional security during talks in Amman on Monday.

According to Jordan’s state news agency Petra, the two officials stressed support for Syria’s unity, sovereignty, security and stability, as well as backing reconstruction efforts led by the Syrian government. They also emphasized the need to halt Israeli interventions and attacks against Syria.

Petra said they also called for an end to Israeli attacks on Syria and discussed regional tensions, including the importance of maintaining the ceasefire between the United States and Iran and resuming negotiations.

The talks also covered the humanitarian situation in Gaza and developments in the occupied West Bank, with Safadi calling for increased humanitarian access and renewed efforts toward a comprehensive peace.

Earlier on Monday, Guterres concluded a visit to Syria, where he urged the international community to support the Syrian people during what he described as a critical phase.
