Moscow/Kyiv, July 13 (SANA) At least 10 people were killed in the latest exchange of attacks between Russia and Ukraine, with Ukrainian drone strikes killing four people in Russia and Russian attacks leaving at least six dead in Ukraine, officials said on Monday.
According to Agence France-Presse (AFP), Moscow Region Governor Andrei Vorobyov said three people were killed and three others injured in the village of Pionersky in the Istra district after a Ukrainian drone crashed while being intercepted. In Solnechnogorsk, two people were injured when another drone struck a residential building.
Vorobyov said Russian air defenses had shot down 81 Ukrainian drones over the Moscow region overnight.
In Russia’s Belgorod region, which borders Ukraine, local authorities said a woman was killed after a Ukrainian drone dropped an explosive device on the village of Berezovka, while another drone strike wounded two men in the village of Krenichnoye.
In southwestern Russia, Stavropol Region Governor Vladimir Vladimirov said an attack sparked a fire in an industrial area in the village of Vyazniki in the Shpakovsky district. No casualties were reported.
Ukraine, meanwhile, said a Russian strike hit a civilian cargo ship flying the Togolese flag while it was unloading a cargo of mineral fertilizers, killing three people. A separate Russian drone strike killed two people in the southern frontline city of Zaporizhzhia, while another person was killed in the neighboring Kherson region.
The latest attacks came as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky prepared to meet Kyiv’s allies in Paris under the framework of the “Coalition of the Willing” to discuss additional military and political support for Ukraine and ways to increase pressure on Moscow. The Kremlin has dismissed the grouping as a “coalition of warmongers.”
Ukraine has stepped up long-range drone attacks inside Russia in recent weeks, particularly targeting oil and energy infrastructure in an effort to weaken Moscow’s ability to finance its military campaign.
Russia, meanwhile, has continued its daily missile and drone strikes across Ukraine, more than four years after the conflict escalated into Europe’s deadliest war since World War II.
