Beirut, June 23 (SANA) Lebanese President Joseph Aoun reaffirmed on Tuesday that the negotiation process represents the most appropriate option to achieve Lebanon’s national interests, while simultaneously emphasizing a firm commitment to full sovereignty and the rejection of any occupation or foreign tutelage.

According to the National News Agency (NNA), Aoun stated that recent developments have proven the validity of choosing negotiation as the internationally recognized path to safeguard national interests. He expressed hope that the new round of discussions with Israel would yield decisive results serving the Lebanese people.

Aoun stressed that the primary objective remains reclaiming absolute Lebanese sovereignty over all territories and extending state authority across the nation without exception.

A new round of direct bilateral talks commenced on Tuesday in the United States between Lebanon and Israel. Since the start of these discussions, Lebanon has maintained a firm set of demands, most notably the comprehensive withdrawal of Israeli forces from all Lebanese lands they crossed into during the recent war.
