Occupied Jerusalem, June 17 ( SANA) The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed a report by the United Nations Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory, presented to the Human Rights Council during its session in Geneva, describing it as a United Nations document that provides legal documentation of systematic violations and crimes committed by Israeli occupation forces and settlers against the Palestinian people.
According to a ministry statement carried by WAFA News Agency on Tuesday, the commission concluded that settler violence constitutes an integral part of the occupation system rather than isolated individual acts, and that such practices are aimed at displacing Palestinians and seizing their land and property, undermining their right to self-determination.
The ministry said the report’s findings regarding violations committed against the Palestinian people require urgent and effective international action to ensure international protection and accountability for those responsible.
It praised recommendations contained in the report calling on the Israeli government to end its occupation of Palestinian territories, halt settlement activities and provide protection for Palestinians from settler violence.
The ministry also welcomed the commission’s call on member states to comply with their international legal obligations, cooperate with international courts and refrain from providing assistance that contributes to the continuation of Israeli occupation and settlement activities or supports violations of international law.
The Palestinian Foreign Ministry noted that it had previously called on the international community to assume its legal and moral responsibilities and to take practical measures to ensure implementation of relevant resolutions, end the occupation and enable the Palestinian people to exercise their right to self-determination and establish an independent sovereign state with Jerusalem as its capital.
