Occupied Jerusalem, June 7 (SANA) Israeli occupation forces arrested eight Palestinians during raids carried out across several areas of the occupied West Bank early Sunday, while a Palestinian fisherman was killed by Israeli naval fire off the coast of Deir al-Balah in the central Gaza Strip.
According to the Palestinian news agency WAFA, Israeli forces arrested three Palestinians from the village of Kafr Malik, east of Ramallah, after raiding and searching their homes. Three brothers were also detained in the village of Qira, north of Salfit, while another Palestinian was arrested in the town of Doha, west of Bethlehem.
In Hebron, Israeli forces raided civilian homes and arrested another Palestinian, bringing the total number of arrests reported during the early hours of Sunday to eight.
At the same time, Israeli bulldozers leveled agricultural land and uprooted trees in the town of Sinjil, north of Ramallah, for the benefit of a settlement outpost established by settlers approximately two years ago.
Palestinian sources also reported that Israeli settlers attacked Palestinian vehicles with stones south of Bethlehem overnight, causing panic among residents.
In the Gaza Strip, Palestinian sources said Israeli naval vessels opened fire on a fishing boat off the coast of Deir al-Balah, killing a Palestinian fisherman.
Attacks by Israeli naval forces against Palestinian fishermen in Gaza’s waters have continued for years through the use of live ammunition, shells and other measures, resulting in casualties, damage to fishing boats and the seizure of vessels, according to Palestinian reports.
On Saturday, the Palestinian Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission announced that Israeli forces and settlers carried out 1,659 attacks across various parts of the West Bank during May, describing them as part of an ongoing systematic policy targeting Palestinian land and property.
Since October 7, 2023, fishing operations across most areas of the Gaza Strip’s coastal waters have become nearly impossible because of military restrictions and continued Israeli targeting, depriving thousands of Palestinian fishermen and their families of their primary source of income.
