ondon, June 4 (SANA) Three British military personnel were killed after a Royal Navy helicopter crashed during a training mission in southwest England, the Royal Navy said on Wednesday.
The helicopter went down near a Merlin helicopter training facility in Okehampton, Devon, according to a statement posted by the Royal Navy on X.
The aircraft involved was a Merlin Mk4 helicopter, and all three crew members on board were killed in the crash, the navy said.
Royal Navy chief Gwyn Jenkins said an investigation had been launched to determine the cause of the accident. He added that the helicopter had taken off from Royal Naval Air Station Yeovilton before the crash.
The incident is the latest in a series of military aviation accidents involving British forces. In 2024, a British helicopter crashed into the English Channel during a military exercise, killing one crew member. Separate helicopter accidents in 2000 and 2004 injured 10 military personnel.
