Beijing, May 15 (SANA) China launched five satellites into orbit Friday aboard a Lijian-1 Y13 carrier rocket, lifting off from the Dongfeng Commercial Space Innovation Zone in northwestern China, the Xinhua news agency reported.
The rocket successfully delivered five Tianyan-27 satellites to their designated orbits. This marks the 13th flight of the Lijian-1 carrier rocket and the 14th launch in the broader Lijian series, which has now placed a total of 100 satellites in orbit with a cumulative payload mass exceeding 18 tonnes.
The Lijian-1, developed by CAS Space, is a solid-fueled carrier rocket designed for rapid-response launch capabilities, with a modular design allowing compatibility across a variety of satellite payloads and missions.
The Tianyan-27 satellite — also known as Youshi — is equipped with a space display screen, a space surveillance camera, an infrared camera, and an onboard intelligent processing payload. It will conduct in-orbit verification of new infrared remote sensing technologies, as well as orbital display operations, in-orbit selfie photography, and intelligent data processing missions.
