Occupied Jerusalem, May 15 (SANA) Violence escalated across the occupied West Bank on Friday, leaving a Palestinian child dead, an elderly woman injured, and several people detained, as Israeli raids intensified alongside settler attacks that included the burning of a mosque.
According to the Palestinian news agency WAFA, a Palestinian child was shot dead by Israeli forces in the village of Al-Lubban Al-Sharqiya, south of Nablus. The report added that his body was withheld and medical teams were prevented from reaching the scene.
In a separate incident, an elderly woman sustained fractures after being assaulted by settlers in Al-Minya village, southeast of Bethlehem. Additional attacks targeted homes along a main road in the area.
Israeli forces also carried out arrest raids across several areas, including Nablus and the northern Jordan Valley, detaining at least two Palestinians. Further arrests were reported inside the courtyards of Al-Aqsa Mosque, where a Palestinian woman and her son were taken into custody, while roads in Hebron and Ramallah were closed to facilitate settler movement.
In occupied Jerusalem, settlers entered the courtyards of Al-Aqsa Mosque under heavy Israeli police protection and performed religious rituals, while access for Palestinian worshippers was restricted.
The Jerusalem Governorate warned that the coordinated incursions aimed to alter the historical and legal status quo at the mosque, noting the timing on Friday as particularly significant given longstanding restrictions on settler entry on that day.
Settlers set fire to a mosque and two vehicles in the village of Jibya, northwest of Ramallah, and sprayed racist graffiti on nearby walls.
The Palestinian Ministry of Awqaf condemned the attack, describing it as part of a wider pattern targeting places of worship.
