Washington, May 15 (SANA) U.S. Border Patrol chief Michael Banks announced his resignation on Thursday, joining a growing list of security officials who have left positions linked to immigration enforcement since the beginning of the year.
According to Agence France-Presse, U.S. Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Rodney Scott thanked Banks in a statement for his decades of service, saying the U.S. border witnessed a shift toward greater security during his tenure.
Banks’ resignation is the latest development affecting the administration’s immigration enforcement leadership structure.
The changes come after a replacement was appointed earlier this year for Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, while senior Customs and Border Protection commander Greg Bovino previously stepped down from his position.
Acting Immigration and Customs Enforcement Director Todd Lyons has also announced plans to leave his post later this month.
