Washington, May 12 (SANA) A senior Pentagon official revealed Tuesday that the U.S.-Israeli war on Iran has cost the United States $29 billion to date, up $4 billion from an estimate provided in late April.
Reuters quoted the Pentagon’s acting financial controller, Jules Hurst, as saying the figure includes equipment repair and replacement costs as well as operational expenses, and that the estimate is continuously reviewed by the Joint Chiefs of Staff team and the financial oversight and internal audit team.
Hurst had previously told a defense summit held in Washington in March that the cost of the first week of the war alone reached approximately $11 billion. The war began on February 28, with both sides currently observing a fragile ceasefire.
